Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Review

Hello ladies, I can't believe it's Friday already! I was planning to upload this review over the weekend, but I'm heading down to London early tomorrow morning as I've been given the wonderful opportunity to work with one of my favourite Fashion Photographers, so I'll be busy in London all weekend! I'll probably blog about my little adventure next week sometime :)

Whenever I apply make up I almost always wear foundation, unless my skin is looking flawless which is very rare! Most days I'll apply a foundation with a light coverage as I like the natural look, but on days where my skin is looking particular bad I'll grab my Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, as I know it will cover up any redness or imperfections!

This foundation was recommended to me last August, my Sister was getting married and all the ladies taking part in the ceremony had their make up done by my neighbour's daughter, who happens to be a brilliant make up artist! She advised me to try the double wear foundation as it'll give me a good coverage while protecting my face since it contains SPF 10- fancy! The shade that she gave me was 1N2 Ecru, I don't think it's the perfect match to my skin, but with a lot of blending and light application it looks fairly natural without making my skin look cakey.
It's a shame there's no pump as it can be quite difficult to get the correct amount without pouring too much!

Now Estée Lauder boasts that this foundation is long wearing, that stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity and nonstop activity. It's supposed to feel lightweight and comfortable while giving you a flawless look that you keep all day. Quite a few people that have tried this has commented on the foundation being quite thick and difficult to apply, it sets relatively quickly so you do have to move fast if you want to buff this into your skin for a natural appearance. I usually apply this foundation with my real techniques buffing brush to avoid any awkward visible lines on the neckline!

The coverage is medium/full depending on how much you apply, a little goes a long way with this foundation so I normally only apply a tiny amount to my face as otherwise it's noticeable that I am wearing foundation! This foundation is very build-able and you can keep adding to it until you feel as though all your imperfections are fully covered up! I have to tend to moisturise a lot before applying as my skin has the odd dry patch, and without moisturiser this foundation will enhance any dry patches and it just looks horrible!

My skin looks flawless!

Normally I'm quite sceptical of brands that boast about their foundations which last all day, but I'm always pleasantly surprised with the staying power and my skin feels natural and like I'm not wearing anything at all!

Overall I love this foundation, it does a brilliant job at giving me an even skin tone while allowing me to build up the coverage until I'm happy with the results. I bought this foundation for £27.50, so it is quite pricey and not exactly student budget friendly, however you pay for what you get and I'm more than happy to pay more for good quality. If you have oily skin then this foundation is your best friend and will keep the shine at bay.

What do you guys think? :) Have you ever tried this foundation before?

  6. Hi Vic, I'm so happy I found your blog! I'm been wondering about this foundation for some time as many makeup artists us it for wedding application due to it's staying power. Is it hard to get off? I have very oily skin and foundation normally slides off me.

    Many Thanks for this :)
