A few months ago I popped into my local Superdrug to pick up some make up wipes, as I was walking to the other end of the shop I noticed the MUA stand. I used to be quite a big MUA fan, their primers and concealers are what first peaked my interest into the brand but to me sometimes their products are a bit hit and miss!
Anyway, I remember hearing about their new palette, which is apparently a dupe of the Naked 2 palette and decided to see what all the fuss was about! Like all MUA products the packaging was very simple and clean looking, unlike their other palettes this one came in white which I prefer as in my opinion it looks more appealing and expensive. There are 12 shades in this palette with a variety of nudes, golds and shades of medium and dark browns, the shades are mainly shimmery with just a couple of mattes (Naked and Lavish). On the back of the packaging the shades are named and these are; Naked, Devotion, Shy, Fiery, Lavish, Dreamy, Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal, Wink, Obsessed and Corrupt. In some ways I felt that by naming the shades MUA were trying too hard to be like the more expensive brands and this put me off a little bit.
Naked, Devotion, Shy, Fiery, Lavish, Dreamy
Now it was really difficult for me to swatch these shades as the top layer were made up of mainly nudes and golds, the gold shades were very pigmented, but the nudes were a little too natural and it was hard to see them on my skin! The nudes would be the perfect base and highlighter if you were going to create a smokey eye or even just a natural look as opposed to wearing the nudes on their own. Half way through taking photos the heavens opened and we had a thunder storm for about an hour, so I apologise for the crappy lighting!
Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal, Wink, Obsessed, Corrupt
The bottom layer is mainly made up of darker shades with a black eyeshadow on the end, this shade was very disappointing as it was incredibly difficult to apply to the skin and I had to layer it up 4 or 5 times before you could even see it !
For £4 it's a good bargain, you could create a variety of different looks with this palette without breaking the bank, but with only two matte shades I was a little disappointed as from previous experience the matte shades don't last as long compared to the others. But at the end of the day you pay for what you get, so if you wanted more pigmented colours that last longer than this palette is definitely not for you.
Have you tried any MUA palettes before or do you opt for more expensive brands such as Urban Decay or Thebalm?
I really need to try this! I've got the undressed palette and its a dupe for the naked palette and I use it everyday!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the Naked palette, definitely purchasing it come payday x
DeleteI have never used this brand before but the colors look nice. The price is really great but I guess you have to work hard to get the shades to be dark. Love the shimmery colors though

The colours are lovely but don't last very long though. It's perfect if you're just going out for a meal as opposed to wanting a look that's going to last all night. I'm sure primers and eye shadow bases help a lot though! x
DeleteThe colours are very pretty and doesn't seem chalky at all! Such a bargain :)

Haha well for that price you can't complain really :) x
DeleteI have the original Naked palette as well as the Naked Basics so you would think that was enough. Nope - I still want the Naked 2! I have swatched it so many times, but I just can't bear spending another £36! I have had the Undress Me Too for a while now - even before I realised it was a dupe for the Naked 2, and loooooved it. I quite like the colder tones of it, especially for the autumn/winter season!
ReplyDeleteat £4 it is one of my favourite drugstore purchases!

I'm quite excited about trying a few different looks with this palette, I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it especially for photoshoots. It's just a shame that the Naked palettes are so damn expensive, definitely not student budget friendly :( x
DeleteI've never tried MUA products before, but I guess for that price I would totally buy it.

Thank you :) It is a good product but it's just a shame the colours don't last very long! Thank you for nominating me, I'll check your blog out now x
DeleteI have the Naked2 palette and it is seriously amazing. The colors of this one look pretty similar, it just stinks that they aren't very pigmented. If it starts to bother you too much, I would definitely recommend you splurging for the original. it is a lot of money, but I think it is worth it.
